A New Dimension of Prophecy

The concept of prophecy developed in stages throughout the Scriptures. The early patriarchs had many, direct prophetic encounters with God. Then Moses brought the prophetic experience to a higher level and became the “father” of the prophets. Moses prayed for all the people of God to be able to prophesy and receive the Holy Spirit (Numbers 11:29), but this prayer was only answered at the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost/Shavuot.

Moses’ prophecies reached a height at the end of his life in the last chapters of Deuteronomy–hinting at almost everything that we have in the rest of the Bible, even to the end of the book of Revelation. In fact, the idea that the people of Israel would be saved in the end times, and that this would come about by the “fullness” of the gentile nations “provoking them to jealousy,” finds its first mention here, calling Israel “a people saved” (Deuteronomy 32:20-21; 33:29; Romans 10:19; 11:11; 11:25-26).

When the children of Israel came into the Promised Land, the early prophets (Samuel through Elisha) spoke primarily concerning David’s kingdom. They believed that the kingdom of God was the kingdom of David. After several hundred years, the prophets realized there was something fundamentally wrong, because David’s sons kept falling into sin and idolatry. A turning point occurred when King Uzziah died, and Isaiah had a vision of a glorious divine king (Isaiah 6:1-6; John 12:40-41). From that time forward the prophets then began to speak of the “Messiah” on a higher level.

Yeshua is revealed as that King-Messiah in the Gospels. After Yeshua was crucified, resurrected, and ascended, God began pouring out the Holy Spirit on all who would believe (Acts 2:1-4, 17), both Jew & Gentile Thus the prophetic gifts and revelations were made available to all in the New Covenant Church or “Ecclesia” (I Corinthians 14:26, 31).

Last Stage

Now we are coming into the last stage of Biblical prophecy, the prophecy of the end times.

“…you must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, tongues, and kings.” – Revelation 10:11

This new stage of prophecy is a consummation of both Israelite and Church prophecy. If the prophecies of restoration for the nation of Israel are one “eye,” and the prophecies of the “fullness” of the worldwide Ecclesia are the other “eye,” then it is time to open both eyes!! This could only happen after a two thousand year history in which now the Messianic remnant in Israel and the international Ecclesia are both coming into their “fullness” (Romans 11:12, 15, 25).

The prophet Isaiah said:

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor…” – Isaiah 61:1

Yeshua quoted this verse in the gospel of Luke. The second verse in Isaiah 61 states “to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” In the gospels, the quote ends here. In Isaiah the verse goes on to say, “(to proclaim) the day of vengeance of our God.”

The first part of the prophecy had to do with Yeshua’s message of grace and salvation, which began at that time, but the “day of vengeance” was to come much later in the end times. It will occur at the second coming of Yeshua during a time of judgment and war. Yeshua will lead an army from heaven to destroy the wicked, drive demons off the planet, raise the dead, and set up His kingdom.

“…the kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of his Christ. And He shall reign forever and ever.”-Revelation 11:15

Biblical “Prophecy” today includes sharing the gospel, encouraging the church, the restoration of Israel, and also confronting the nations with the soon coming kingdom: “The king is returning to take back the kingdoms of this world.” This type of prophecy was not fully possible until our generation. I believe God is offering a “double” prophetic anointing to enable us to speak of God’s destiny for Israel, the Church and the Nations in these end times.

This is the word of the Lord and needs to be diffused throughout all of Messiah’s Body worldwide. Many are not aware of this, especially church leaders, and it is incumbent on God’s people to be aware of what the Lord is saying and pointing to in order for us to begin heading in that direction. Many have tried to return to old revivals and old movements that once were glorious visitations of God but the Lord is wanting to get us ready for his new work in the earth (his glorious visitation, and for that, the trumpet must be sounded. I will be sharing this word at my local fellowship especially when I am ministering the word tomorrow night. God bless….

Reading this prophetic word and teaching reinforces what the Lord has been showing me for some time–along the same lines–regarding the entering into the fulness of the Kingdom of God by both the Church and his messianic people. The transitioning into the new dimension of prophetic word and ministry (as Asher has illustrated using the metaphor of “two eyes” is solidly biblical. The book of Revelation or the Unveiling of Yeshua (the actual title of the book) largely has to do with the revelation and depiction of the person of Christ (Messiah) being revealed, or rather “unveiling” (the literal meaning of the greek word “apocalipsis” or “apocalupsis”) in his glory to the world, first through his people, or those who are ready as “he comes to be glorified in his saints”, then as he comes in the clouds of shekinah glory with the heavenly host and every eye will see him. This period of time we are in is a transitional time to that initial unveiling of Messiah in glory in his Bride, leading up to the culmination at his Second Coming. As that Day draws near, the church and messianics will be entering into that new dimension of prophecy in which the message of the Kingdom (as Asher just explained) to the nations will be proclaimed under mighty power and signs and wonders. The judgments of God are then released as well as he judges unrepentant nations and peoples. All of this activity is described largely in symbolic language in the book of Revelations. One of the needs of this hour is for the Church, esp. the remnant, to begin to get restored in the gifts of the Spirit, as the messianic movement, to combine and receive the combo–one-two punch in the Spirit–that will be a prelude and prepping of the way to the next major phase of God’s end time visitation. There is more to be said and revealed, but certainly Asher’s word is revelation of one of the mysteries of the kingdom which the Angel told Daniel would be revealed in the end time….God bless our dear brother Asher and all Revive israel (I have followed, heard, read your books and know your ministry is truly unique in the messianic movement). My background comes back from the late 70s when I attended a bible college in upstate New York called Pinecrest Bible Training Center. There was a man who had an apostolic anointing and had been visited by the Lord to show what the end times were about and how a people was being prepared for the end time purposes of the Lord. This is going to be on a world scale from God’s people of every tongue, ethnicity and culture. Shalom, shalom, glory to Yeshua HaMashiach!

Asher, your comment: “Biblical “Prophecy” today includes sharing the gospel, encouraging the church, the restoration of Israel, and also confronting the nations with the soon coming kingdom: “The king is returning to take back the kingdoms of this world.” This type of prophecy was not fully possible until our generation.”

This is the calling the Lord gave to me in 1960 for the last days. The fulfillment of this calling began in 2011. This article is so good. It says exactly what I have come to see in the scriptures. That is after years of trying to leave behind both replacement theology and dispensational prophecy theories. The fullness of the gentiles and the salvation of Israel are each at the door of anticipation and then Yeshua will return. The coming bad times that many speak about is what will come upon the hard core of rebellious unbelievers soon after Yeshua’s return. In the mean time look up fro our redemption is drawing closer.

    Dear Asher,

In your third paragraph you make the following statement:

“After several hundred years, the prophets realized there was something fundamentally wrong,”

Sir, with all due respect, to suggest that the prophets realized something was wrong in their prophesying is a rather disturbing. It is my understanding and I believe it is shared my the vast majority of Christians that the prophets were inspired directly by the Spirit of God. This suggestion of yours undermines the integrity of the Holy Scriptures.

Contrary to your assertion, the earlier prophets were not ‘wrong’ in their prophecies concerning the Kingdom of Judah, ie the House of David. They were simply prophesying on a different subject. And whats more, the plain reading of those prophecies are completely accurate and need no interpretation but need to be simply believed no matter how we think about them.

Along with the prophesies concerning Messiah and the Kingdom of God, the prophets prophesied of BOTH the Kingdom of Judah and the Kingdom of Israel and did not confuse the two different kingdoms which have different destinies to fulfill in their journeys through history before being brought together both in the land and in the Kingdom of God.

Admittedly, some confusion exists when Israel is used to address all the descendants of Jacob, but the context allows us to discern when that is the case. However, there are over 180 scriptures that make a distinction between the two kingdoms and clearly delineate different destinies for them.

From what you have written it seems to me that the significance of these two scriptures has escaped your attention:

1 Chronicles 5:1-2 Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel—he was indeed the firstborn, but because he defiled his father’s bed, his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph, the son of Israel, so that the genealogy is not listed according to the birthright; 2 yet Judah prevailed over his brothers, and from him came a ruler, although the birthright was Joseph’s—

    Genesis 49:10
The scepter shall not depart from Judah, Nor a lawgiver from between his feet, Until Shiloh comes; And to Him shall be the obedience of the people.

The destiny of the descendants of Judah who become the leading tribe of the Kingdom of Judah as foretold by the prophets has the Scepter as one of its major themes.

However, the destiny of the descendants of the sons of Joseph who became the leading tribes of the Kingdom of Israel has the Birthright as its major theme.

I believe if you get this aspect of the prophetic writings sorted in your theology and eschatology you will no longer make such terrible suggestions regarding the integrity of the written word.

Love joy and peace to you in Jesus Mighty Name.

      Shalom Elihu!

Thank you for commenting and sharing your heart with us. My name is Andrew and I serve on the Revive Israel Media team. I prepared this post for Asher as a summary of a teaching that he gave recently. For more context you can find the video featuring the content covered in this post here:

If I may, I believe that your disagreement with Asher’s perspective on this topic is purely a semantic misunderstanding. I believe that when Asher said, “After several hundred years, the prophets realized there was something fundamentally wrong,” that he was not saying that there was something wrong with what they were prophesying, but rather something wrong with what they as prophets understood about the prophecies.

We at Revive Israel are a ministry team that values and encourages the gift of prophecy, as well as the five-fold station of the prophet as described in Ephesians 4. Therefore the concept and practice of prophecy is dear to us and we do not take it lightly. In that light, we see often times in the scriptures a literal fulfillment of Biblical prophecy in the time that it was given as well as a future fulfillment of a slightly different although parallel scope. We also understand from our own experience with prophecy that the prophet does not always understand all the implications or the details regarding the fulfillment of his own prophecy and we believe that the scriptures support this. Today, As Yeshua opened the eyes of His disciples to understand all the “Old” Testament scriptures that spoke about Him, we believe that the Holy Spirit is opening the eyes of the body of Messiah to understand more and more what was prophesied regarding the end times.

I apologize that our choice of words caused confusion and frustration, and hope that you would consider the point that Asher was trying to make in his teaching: that we are not only living out prophecy and fulfilling it today, but it is also ours to understand things that were hidden from the ancient prophets as the generation that will hopefully see Yeshua’s return.

Blessings and love to you from myself and our team in Israel!
      Andrew
