Blessing of Asher
© 2000 by Asher Intrater
The name Asher in Hebrew means "blessed." Through Yeshua we receive the blessings of all the forefathers. Here is the particular blessing given to the tribe of Asher by Moses:
There are five parts to this blessing. We need to take these blessings by faith and defend them from the attacks of the devil. God intends to bless us with all these blessings. He blesses us with them from the spirit (Eph. 1:3). But we need to stand aggressively if they are to come to pass upon the earth. In fact, Yeshua has already provided for us these blessings upon the cross (Gal. 3:13). We break in almost violently to take hold of what God has provided in the spirit and through Yeshua in the kingdom of God. (Matt. 11:12).
As believers, our children are blessed. God's spiritual favor is poured out upon them. However, sometimes it doesn't look that way. And also, the devil focuses special attack upon them. So we stand against circumstances of the world, the flesh, and the devil. We believe and thank God and insist in prayer for God's blessing to be manifest in our children.
Favor with Friends and Co-workers
The word here in Hebrew is r'tsui which means pleasing to and also reconciled to. Where there have been relational breakdowns, God will give us reconciliation. Where people have seemed to dislike us, God will make us pleasing to them.
Locked onto Evangelism
The word for iron here is barzel, which also has the spiritual meaning of being firm, resolute and iron-willed. The blessing is that we will be like iron going forth to evangelize.
The word for shoe is na'al which is the same root as the word to lock. It is used figuratively to lock onto something, such as locking onto a goal or a target. We become locked on and focused on sharing the gospel.
Anointed Wherever You Go
Getting Stronger With Time
But the blessing of the Lord reverses this natural process. Not only does our strength not have to wane, but we can get stronger with each passing year. As the number of the years increases, so will our anointing and faith increase. We may feel weaker in the flesh, but "where we are weak, He is strong." (II Corinthians 12).
