Holocaust Day
©May 1, 2011 Asher Intrater

Monday, May 2, Holocaust Remembrance Day, commemorates the 6 million Jews who were slaughtered in World War II.  The Holocaust is one of the most formative events in the history of the Jewish people. It ranks with the Exodus from Egypt, the destruction of the Second Temple, and the establishment of the State of Israel.

The Holocaust is to the Jewish people what the suffering of Yeshua (Jesus) is to the Christian world. (Classic rabbinic interpretation of Isaiah 53 is that it represents the suffering of the Jewish people.) There are only 208,000 survivors remaining alive in Israel today. The Holocaust still affects the mentality of the Jewish people. One of the reasons that Israel maintains a strong military is the fear that such a mass genocide could happen again. According to prophecy it is likely to happen (Zechariah 13:8). According to the current trends in diplomacy, media and Jihad, it seems unavoidable.

There are over 6 million Jews in Israel today – a number that stands in obvious contrast to the Holocaust victims. The nation will stand for two minutes of silence at the haunting sound of war sirens. Since secular and religious Jews alike were killed, the Holocaust constitutes a certain unifying factor among Jewish people. (The majority of the extended Intrater family - the cousins and relatives of my grandfather - were murdered.) [Some orthodox Jews claim that Messianic Jews are not Jews. Yet those who desire to murder our people don't see any difference between us.]

A touching human interest story: Branko Lustig, 78, two-time Oscar-winning film producer for “Schindler’s List” and “Gladiator,” will celebrate his bar mitzvah on Holocaust Day at Auschwitz, in front of Barrack 24. He missed his rite of passage as a 13-year-old because at the time he was a prisoner in the very same barrack, having been deported from his Croatian hometown to the death camp when he was 10.

Prince and Princess

A reported 2 billion people watched the wedding of William and Kate. The world is fascinated with royalty, with princes and princesses. Their image has phenomenal influence on masses of people, in England, and around the world: William, because he is the son of kings and queens, and Kate, simply because she married him.

The Bible tells us that we are sons and daughters of God through faith in Yeshua, and that we have a marital-like covenant with Him as well. If God is king, and we are His children, what does that make us? That's right: princes and princesses. It is a small thing to be son of Prince Charles compared to our being sons\daughters of Prince Yeshua. William and Charles are princes by physical birth. We are children of God by spiritual rebirth.

"You are a prince of God among us" – Genesis 23:6. "What manner of love has the Father given us, that we should be called children of God" – I John 3:1

As Kate has no right of royalty other than her marriage, so do we have no right of divinity other than our covenant with Yeshua. Yet the covenant works: both for her and for us. If we will understand our identity as princes and princesses of God, purify ourselves from the world, and grasp the meaning of covenant, we will have influence far beyond that of the princes and princesses of England.

Pentecost Prayer

With the endorsement of the Messianic Jewish Alliance of Israel, and the cooperation of local pastors and prayer houses in Israel, we are inviting you to join with us for a 12 hour international prayer watch on the eve of Shavuot (Pentecost). This time for intercession and fasting is scheduled for Tuesday-Wednesday, June 7 – 8, 10:00 PM to 10:00 AM, local Israeli time. The central theme will be to foster a world-wide outpouring of the Holy Spirit as prophesied in Acts 2:17 and Joel 2:28.

"And it shall come to pass in the end times that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh..."

Prayer groups, houses of prayer, congregations, and churches – Europeans, Arabs, Africans, Asians, and Americans – are all invited to join with the Messianic Jewish community in Israel for this prophetic prayer initiative. We will be sending organizational information and prayer guidelines in the next few weeks. For now, please reserve this date on your calendars and let all your friends know about it.

Fatah and Hamas Agreement

By Mati Shoshani

The four-year split between the Hamas and Fatah organizations which began with Hamas' bloody take over of the Gaza strip is coming to a possible end, as they make a show of joining forces.

The Hamas and Fatah intend to hold general elections in Gaza and the West Bank to elect a joint Palestinian government. The Hamas' mandate states that "There is no solution to the Palestinian problem except by jihad," making any official talks with Israel seem absurd.

These latest actions are part of an International thrust at a unilateral Palestinian declaration of independence in September, which is coordinated with the UNHRC's (Human Rights Council) "Anti-Racism Week," an overtly anti-Israeli event.

Israeli officials are talking about a "diplomatic blitz" heading towards Israel, and are calling on the government to make a last minute gesture towards the Palestinians.

The Palestinian Authority continues to ignore Israeli advances in an effort to further isolate Israel diplomatically.

These deliberate moves brand Israel as the diplomatic leper of the world, isolating her and estranging her remaining supporters. Please continue to stand with us against the diplomatic hypocrisy as we near the climax of a hundred nation assault on Israel's sovereignty and public image.
