Empowering the Next Generation

Learning Lessons on Identity and Faith at Portuguese Conference
By Raphael Almeida
As we approach the end times, it is crucial to help youth strengthen and establish their identity in the Lord. The enemy is on the prowl, mightily attacking the next generation, trying to steal their identity and purpose in the Lord. However, as believers, we know that our identity is in Christ, and we are sons and daughters of God.
Our friends in Portugal will bring together teenagers and their families from various communities in Portugal on April 22 in Lisbon to celebrate Jesus and learn more about their identity in faith.
The conference will feature various workshops that focus on personal identity. I will be serving at this conference and will conduct a worship workshop, speaking about the power of worship as a weapon against evil and teaching from the scriptures about our identity in Christ. The goal of the conference is to equip youth with the tools they need to fight against the lies of Satan and establish their identity as sons and daughters of God.
The theme of the conference reminds me of 1 Peter 2:9, which says, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” As believers, we are chosen by God and set apart for a holy purpose. We are His special possession, and He has called us out of darkness into His wonderful light.
Colossians 2:6-7 says, “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”
It is only by staying rooted in Christ and strengthening our faith that we can withstand the attacks of the enemy and remain true to our identity in Him.
Philippians 4:13 reminds us that “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
As our youth gather in Portugal to learn more about their identity in Christ, may they be filled with the strength of the Lord to overcome any obstacles and stand firm in their faith.
We are looking forward to what the Lord is going to do through this conference and through the teachings. Let us pray for the youth of Portugal and all the attendees, that they may be strengthened and established in their identity as sons and daughters of God.
