Are We Living in the End Times?

By Raphael Almeida

During troubling times, such as the current war and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, many people wonder if these are signs that the world is coming to an end. But, are we truly experiencing the signs of the end times?

First and foremost, regardless of whether we are in the end times, I don’t think that we need to focus on this question, but as a community, remain prepared at all times. Jesus urged His disciples to be ready, emphasizing the importance of being prepared in uncertain times.

“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” – Matthew 24:36

I believe that we may not yet be in the end times, but we need to remain watchful and ready. However, we are seeing that the spirit of the antichrist is active among us. Just a few years ago, I would have expected the signs of the end times to be obvious – no churches on the streets, the inability to openly declare the name of Yeshua, and widespread persecution of believers. Yet today, I see the spirit of the antichrist infiltrating churches, blurring the lines between truth and falsehood.

“Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour.” – 1 John 2:18

I believe we will witness large churches and conferences, all seemingly worshipping God in the name of Yeshua. However, beneath the surface, everything may be a show – a lie that betrays the principles dear to the heart of God.

So, how can we remain prepared in the midst of this deception? I believe that the spirit of the antichrist attacks three important foundations:

The Family: Traditional family structures are being challenged, with non-traditional arrangements becoming more common even within the church. We see a blurring of gender roles, violations of marriage commitments, and a departure from biblical principles of parenting.

Church Community: There is a growing focus on grand events and superficiality within church communities, diverting attention from genuine relationships and spiritual growth. Instead of fostering deep connections and accountability, many churches prioritize creating entertainment.

Israel: There is a spirit of division at work among Israelis and Arabs, and we are seeing a widespread rise in antisemitic events worldwide. Rather than recognizing Israel as God’s chosen people and supporting its right to exist, there is a rise in hostility and hatred toward our nation.

On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves.” – Zechariah 12:3

While you may disagree with my perspective, it’s crucial to recognize that these foundations are at the core of God’s heart. As a global church community, let us unite in prayer and guard against false teachings and lies infiltrating our communities. We must remain steadfast in our faith and uphold the principles that are dear to the heart of God.
