Prayer and Politics
By Asher Intrater
You may have seen a clip of US President Trump asking for a day of national prayer in the wake of the flood damage in Houston. It might be worth clarifying a few basic assumptions:
If there is no God at all, then a day of prayer makes no sense at all.
If there is a God, it is worth turning to Him in both good times and bad.
God and prayer are above politics, whether right wing or left wing.
Ultimately the solution is not political but spiritual and ethical.
If there is a God, then one has to ask who He is, and what kind of God He is.
From everything that I can discern, and after a lifetime of searching and study, I have come to the firm conclusion that the true God is the God of the Bible, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God whom Yeshua (Jesus) is His appointed and anointed savior to mankind.
If that is the case, no matter whether your politics are right or left, and no matter what you may think of US President Trump or Vice-President Pence, then calling for a day of national prayer can be nothing but a good thing. Perhaps a very good thing!
Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus… - I Timothy 2:1-5
Let's join our hearts in prayer for the United States, for the current crisis in North and South Korea, for the millions of refugees from the Middle East, and for all nations, including Israel. If there is one true God, then He is the Father and creator of all people.

The First Button
First things first!
I'll never forget Bob Benson's illustration about the buttons on a shirt. Get the first button right, and all the others will be in line. Get that first button wrong, and the whole shirt will be lopsided.
Some things Godly are more important than other things. If we get these first things first, then life lines up correctly. If not, our whole lives are misaligned.
Jesus said that if we will first seek the kingdom and His righteousness, everything regarding life will come into order (Matthew 6:25-33) - food, clothing, houses, jobs. Is your life somewhat askew? Check your "firsts."
Some examples of "first things first" right alignment:
Jesus also advises, when we enter into worship with our tithes and offerings - if we remember that someone has something against us (we have wronged someone), we are first to go immediately to right that wrong, and then offer our gift (Matthew 5:23-24). That's pretty radical. Do we? Will we?
He also told us that if we really want to be great in the Lord (and I hope you do), we must become servants - an inverted triangle of an authority structure (Matthew 20:24-28). Is this my desire? Do my actions show servanthood? Do yours show this?
Or how about this one? When asked to comment on the 613 commandments given in the Law, which is most important, Jesus responded without hesitation, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments" (Matt. 22:34-40).
Easy said, but how do we do that? John gives us that answer in his first letter, "We love because He first loved us" (4:19). In other words, ponder and meditate on how much God loves you, and respond to Him with your whole being your desire to love him back.
Get that first button of your life properly aligned, and your whole life comes into order.
Zoe Ministries Conference Report
This week the whole RI team participated in a conference sponsored by Zoe Ministries from Korea. Pastor Minho Kim leads a network of 50+ churches in Korea, and about the same number around the world. Altogether, about 400 came up to Jerusalem for four days of prayer, worship and teaching focused on the Book of Ephesians. This included the Director of Revive Israel Korea, Jacob Lee, who came to serve the conference as our interpreter. On Monday, Asher spoke on our vision from Acts 1 & 2, and the need for the ongoing experience of the filling/baptism of the Holy Spirit. Afterward our team prayed for most of the group. Dan Juster then shared later on the joint destiny of the Church & Israel, and Ariel Blumenthal taught on the One New Man. We are very excited about the ongoing connection with this 5-Fold Ministry team from Korea and around the world.

Believing Single-Parent Families in Israel and How You Can Help
Equine Therapy uses horses to help improve physical and mental health in kids and adults of all kinds. At Revive Israel, we found that this unique experience produced very positive results for believing children in our community that come from broken families and single-parent households. Click the link below to hear the testimony of a couple of mothers about their children's transformation and help us sponsor another 40 children this year!
